1. What the app does

Site Search Bar adds a search box to a Wix site. When a visitor types a query, the app looks it up in the site's Wix search index (kept by the free Wix Site Search app) and shows the results. From version 2.0, on sites that do not have that index, the app searches the site's published products, blog posts, events and booking services itself, using the read permissions the site owner approves when installing or updating the app. The site owner manages the app from the Wix dashboard.

2. Data we process

• Search queries. The text a visitor types is sent to Wix's search services (the site's search index, or from version 2.0 the site's own product and booking search) and, for the site owner's analytics, stored in a collection inside that site's own Wix CMS ("Search Logs"): the query, the number of results, the response time, the content types searched and the time of the search. On the Pro plan the site's most frequent queries are also used to power autocomplete suggestions and the no-results fallback shown to visitors on that same site. Queries are free text, so they may contain whatever the visitor typed; we store no visitor names, email addresses, IP addresses or device identifiers with these logs. Where the site shows a cookie/consent banner, queries are only logged if the visitor has allowed the "analytics" category; searching itself always works.
• Site content for search (version 2.0 and later, only on sites without the Wix search index). With the permissions the site owner approves (read products, read blog, read events, and read bookings – public data), the app reads the site's published content: product names, descriptions, prices, stock status, images and page links; blog post titles, excerpts or text, cover images and links; event titles, descriptions, images and page links; booking service names, short descriptions, images and page links. Products in Wix's newer catalog and booking services are looked up when a visitor searches and are not copied. For other products, blog posts and events the app keeps a search copy in a collection inside the site's own Wix CMS ("Search Index"): title, up to 600 characters of text, link, image, price, stock status and the time the item last changed. Hidden products, hidden services, unpublished posts, and draft or canceled events are left out. The copy is updated when Wix reports a change and rebuilt once it is more than a day old. On these sites the app also reads the site's regular pages: it opens the site's public sitemap and the published pages listed in it — the same pages and text that search engines see — and keeps in the Search Index each page's title, address and up to 1,500 characters of its text. Pages hidden from search engines, members-only pages and password-protected pages are not listed in the sitemap and are not read. Page copies are refreshed when the sitemap shows a change and at least every 7 days while the app is in use, and they are removed with the rest of the copy when the app is uninstalled.
• Synonyms, result rules and settings. Synonyms, pinned results and hidden items entered by the site owner are stored in the site's Wix CMS ("Search Synonyms", "Search Rules"); a rule stores the title, link and price of the chosen item as shown in the app's search results. Widget settings (colors, placeholder text, result types) are stored by the Wix editor as part of the site.
• Site registration. To serve search requests, we keep a record of each site where the app is installed: the Wix site id and the app instance id (technical identifiers issued by Wix), and technical timestamps — when the site was first registered, when the site last reached the app, when the app's dashboard and the search box in the editor were last opened, and when a visitor's search last reached the app from the live site and by which route — so the dashboard can tell the owner whether the search box is placed and working. This record contains no personal data.
• Usage counts. To run and improve the app, we (the developer) from time to time read each installed site's Search Logs through the app's access to that site and look only at totals per site: for example the number of searches, searches with no results, distinct queries, query lengths, the time of the last search and the site's plan. To check why searches found nothing, we may also run a sample of a site's no-result queries again against that same site's search. The query text is used only in memory for these checks; we do not print, copy or keep it. To tell live businesses from test sites in these totals, we may also read each site's basic properties (site name, business category, language and time zone); any list we keep of them stays on our own computer and is not published.
• Site owner contact details. Wix shares the site owner's account details needed to operate the app and billing (for example the site owner's email) under the permissions shown when the app is installed.

3. Data we do not process

The app does not read customer lists, orders, payments, members' private data or form submissions, and it does not place tracking cookies for advertising. From Wix Bookings the app reads only the public list of services — not bookings, customers or staff schedules.

4. Where data is stored

Search logs, synonyms and the search copy live in the site's own Wix CMS, under the site owner's control; the owner can delete them at any time, and Wix removes the app's collections when the app is uninstalled. The app's backend runs on Wix's hosting infrastructure. Short-lived caches exist only in server memory: search results and the search copy for up to 60 seconds, and the list of a site's popular searches and the no-results fallback for up to 10 minutes.

5. Legal basis and retention

We process query logs on the basis of the site owner's legitimate interest in understanding what visitors search for. Logs are kept as long as the app is installed; site owners can delete them at any time from the Wix CMS. After the app is uninstalled, the site registration record is deleted: at least once a week we check which sites have removed the app and delete their records. Records are also deleted on request. The search copy is kept only while the app is installed and is removed with the app's collections when the app is uninstalled.

6. Sharing

We do not sell or share data with third parties. Data is processed by Wix (as the platform hosting the site, the search index, the CMS and the app backend) under Wix's own terms and privacy policy.

7. Your rights

Site visitors should contact the site owner about data on that site. Site owners can contact us at beobjoong@gmail.com to ask about the app's processing, request deletion of registration records, or raise a complaint. Where GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA apply, you have the rights those laws provide, including access, correction and deletion.
